DJ Wale plays Lohri and Vaisakhi celebrations in Columbus and the area within about two hours, including family Lohri parties, a baby's or couple's first Lohri, and community events. We bring bhangra, Punjabi folk and boliyan, with live dhol from the founders.
Lohri and Vaisakhi are Punjabi celebrations, and they are all about dhol and bhangra. For a family's first Lohri, after a wedding or a new baby, the party is often as big as a wedding.
Both founders play dhol, so live dhol is part of the night, around the bonfire for Lohri or on the floor for a Vaisakhi party. The set is built on bhangra, Punjabi folk, boliyan and current Punjabi hits.
For community events, we provide microphones for speeches and performances, and sound sized for halls or outdoor sites.
How it runs, step by step
- Folk songs: Punjabi folk and Lohri songs.
- Dhol: Live dhol and boliyan around the fire.
- Background: Punjabi classics.
- Bhangra: Bhangra and Punjabi hits until close.
A first Lohri to remember
A baby's or newlyweds' first Lohri is a major family celebration in Punjabi culture, often with as many guests as a wedding reception. We plan an entrance for the family, a bonfire moment with dhol and boliyan, and a full bhangra dance floor.
Vaisakhi for communities
Vaisakhi events often combine a stage program with bhangra performances and a community party. We provide stage audio, cue performance tracks and finish with an open floor of bhangra and Punjabi hits.
The music
Lohri and Vaisakhi folk songs, boliyan, classic and current bhangra and Punjabi pop.
Planning tips
- Check fire rules for an outdoor bonfire and plan a safe distance for equipment.
- For a first Lohri, tell us the baby's or couple's name for the emcee to celebrate.
