Questions
Good to know
What is included in your wedding reception package?
DJ, emcee, sound for speeches and dancing, and a planning meeting. Lighting, cold sparks, fog, CO2, LED walls and dhol are add-ons you can choose.
Do you do cold sparks for the grand entrance?
Yes. Cold spark machines are popular for entrances and first dances. They are not pyrotechnics, but we confirm venue rules first.
Can you do the first dance on a cloud?
Yes. We use low-lying cold fog that stays on the floor for the first dance.
Do you play non-Indian music at receptions?
Yes. We mix Bollywood and Punjabi with Top 40, hip-hop, R&B and classics, which works well for fusion and multicultural weddings.
How long do you play at a reception?
Most receptions run four to six hours of coverage including setup time; we quote the exact hours you need.

DJ Wale runs wedding receptions in Columbus and within about two hours of it, handling the DJ, emcee, lighting and effects as one team. A typical night includes a grand entrance with cold sparks or CO2, speeches, a first dance in low fog, cake cutting and an open dance floor until the last song.
The reception is where every part of your planning shows. Timing has to stay tight for catering and photography, speeches have to be heard at the back of the room, and the dance floor has to fill fast and stay full.
We run the reception from a written run of show that we build with you and share with your planner, photographer and venue. Kaka G hosts the program; DJ Ravi reads the floor and decides what comes next. Both of us can pick up the dhol when the room needs a lift.
Effects are timed to the music, not set off at random: cold sparks for the grand entrance, CO2 for the drop, low fog that makes the first dance look like it is happening on a cloud.
How it runs, step by step
- Welcome set: Lounge, Bollywood instrumentals and light hits while guests arrive.
- Intros: Wedding party and couple entrance with cold sparks, CO2 or live dhol.
- Speeches: Toasts and blessings with clear microphones and background music.
- Spotlight: Low fog, lighting and your song.
- Moments: Parents' dances, anniversary dance, cake cutting.
- Party: Bollywood, bhangra, garba, Top 40 and hip-hop until the last song.
The music
The reception set is built for mixed crowds: Bollywood and Punjabi for the family, garba rounds if you want them, and Top 40, R&B and hip-hop for friends. We take requests during the night and keep a do-not-play list.
Planning tips
- Lock your entrance songs and first dance song at least two weeks out.
- Confirm with your venue whether cold sparks and fog are allowed and if they need a fire marshal notice.
- Keep speeches to three or four people and under five minutes each to protect dance time.
- Do the cake cutting right before the open floor so guests are already standing.
